How To Boost Your Fertility Levels

| |

Although you wouldn’t necessarily think so because movies, TV shows, and the media, in general, tell you otherwise, the reality is that many couples actually have a harder time trying to conceive than they thought they would. Sometimes it takes many months, sometimes years, and sometimes they will need the help of an expert to give them the best chance of having a baby.

With all this in mind, the more you can do to boost your fertility levels, the better. So read on for some useful tips on the kind of things you can do.

Get An Expert’s Help

As mentioned above, sometimes it’s best to seek expert help when you want to have a baby, but nothing seems to be happening. It could be that there is a simple solution, or perhaps you’ll need to investigate the chance of pregnancy with 2 mature follicles, for example. However, until you talk to a professional at a fertility clinic, you won’t be able to move forward with any plans.

Not everyone is going to need this kind of help, and there are many other ways to boost your fertility levels, but this could be the ideal first step if you’ve been trying for a while with no positive results.

More Antioxidants

Something that can help when it comes to conceiving a child is getting more antioxidants into your system. If you can eat food that contains antioxidants (examples of which include folate, vitamin C, lutein, and zinc), fertility can be improved in both men and women.

The way this works is that the antioxidants deactivate the free radicals in your body. Since free radicals can cause damage to sperm and egg cells, when there are fewer of them, there is less chance of this damage taking place. Eating more fruit, vegetables, grains, and nuts will help hugely.

Fewer Carbs

Reducing the number of carbs – short for carbohydrates – you have in your diet is another way that fertility can potentially be increased. When you have fewer carbs, you’ll be more easily able to stick to a healthy weight, and that means it will be easier to conceive (being over or underweight can cause problems in this regard) since your menstruation won’t be affected. In addition, when you have regular periods, it’s easier to work out when you are ovulating and, therefore, when conception is most likely to occur.

De-Stress

When you are very stressed, your fertility is lowered. This is due to hormones. When you are stressed, your body releases a lot of cortisol, otherwise known as the stress hormone. When there is too much of this in the body, ovulation can be disrupted or even prevented. If you’ve ever missed a period because you were under a lot of stress, this will be the reason why.

To stand a better chance of conceiving, you and your partner will both need to relax and de-stress as much as possible. Of course, this is easier said than done, but if you want to start a family, it’s something you’ll certainly need to look into.
